The Impact of the Pottawatomie County Half-Cent Sales Tax on Grove School
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In November 2015, citizens of Pottawatomie County voted to approve an increase to the county tax rate of one-half cent on every dollar spent. The revenue generated by the half-cent sales tax has been collected and overseen by the Pottawatomie County Commissioners and appropriated to every school in the county based on student enrollment numbers. The Board of Education of each school district determines how the funds can be spent, and the only restriction is that any district cannot use the funds to pay salaries.
Sales tax collections for this program began in July 2016, and the measure is set to expire at the end of June 2026. A proposed continuation of this half-cent sales tax will appear on a ballot for Pottawatomie County voters to consider on April 1, 2025.
From July 2016 through December 2024, Grove School received approximately $1.5 million through this program. This has allowed the district to make purchases and complete projects that it would not have been able to otherwise. Please take a look at the list of projects below.
Grove School greatly appreciates the citizens of Pottawatomie County's continued support of our county schools. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students!
